IDR is seeking a BI Developer to join a dynamic team for a remote, 12-month contract with the potential for extension. This role offers the opportunity to lead the development and optimization of enterprise BI solutions, impacting decision-making and operational efficiency.
Position Overview for the BI Developer:
- Own and optimize the semantic layer across multiple BI tools, including Power BI, Tableau, and SAS, ensuring high performance and data consistency.
- Develop and maintain complex reports and dashboards, utilizing advanced data modeling, DAX, and query optimization techniques.
- Query and model data from cloud platforms such as GCP / BigQuery, supporting scalable reporting solutions.
- Support legacy BI environments, interpreting and retiring old SAS-based reports while transitioning to modern tools.
- Document datasets, measures, and data lineage to facilitate self-service analytics for analysts and downstream teams.
- Collaborate across teams to troubleshoot performance issues, improve data quality, and implement best practices in BI development.
- Maintain a strong understanding of healthcare data security standards, including row-level security and PHI minimization, in a regulated environment.
Required Qualifications for the BI Developer:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, with at least 7 years of experience in data and analytics roles.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on BI development experience, including report and dashboard creation.
- Proficiency in Power BI, including DAX, data modeling, and performance tuning, with demonstrated experience in complex report optimization.
- Strong SQL skills, with experience in query writing, data modeling, and performance tuning.
- Familiarity with cloud data platforms such as GCP / BigQuery, including SQL and data access methods.
- Experience supporting legacy BI environments, especially SAS, with the ability to interpret and transition reports.
- Knowledge of healthcare BI considerations, including row-level security and PHI handling.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have):
- Experience with Tableau, SAS, or other BI tools.
- Knowledge of Python or R for data processing and scripting.
- Familiarity with data governance, compliance standards, and DevOps practices in BI.
- Experience working in regulated environments such as healthcare or finance.

Compensation Range: $70-73/hr
